Honouring Truth, Respecting Every Story: Omni Observes National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2025
On September 30, Omni Quality Living joined Canadians nationwide in recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day dedicated to remembering the Indigenous children who never returned home from residential schools, honouring survivors, and standing with families and communities impacted across generations.
At Omni, this day represents more than remembrance—it’s a call to education, empathy, and meaningful connection. Across our residences, team members and residents came together to learn, reflect, and express solidarity through activities that celebrated Indigenous voices and fostered a deeper understanding of our shared history.
Connection Across Our Homes
At our Forest Hill residence, one of our dedicated PSW’s led a smudging ceremony open to residents, families, and staff who wished to take part. For our First Nations residents, the ceremony offered a powerful moment of connection, reflection, and healing.

At Heritage House, residents, families, and team members alike reflected on the history and lasting impacts of residential schools and acknowledged the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples. Many attendees wore orange and participated in the activity of printing heartfelt messages of hope and unity on orange handprint cutouts to honour the healing journey of survivors.

The Streamway Villa community took the opportunity to venture outside and observe the day of reflection alongside neighbors. Many dressed in orange while exchanging stories, learnings, and remembering the affected children and families of residential schools.

Walking the Path Together
For Omni Quality Living, commemorating this day aligns with our belief that compassion must guide care, and learning must guide growth. Through listening, reflection, and conversation, our communities reaffirmed their dedication to equality, respect, and truth—all foundational to our mission of caring for people, with heart.
As we stand alongside our residents, families, and team members, Omni continues its journey toward reconciliation with humility and hope. By learning from the past, we nurture a more inclusive future.
