Almonte Country Haven offers long-term care and specialized services for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Located 30 minutes from Ottawa in the historic town of Almonte, our residence is situated in a quiet residential area with easy access to specialized health care services and within minutes of a large hospital and emergency services. 

Our Philosophy  

At Almonte Country Haven, we strive to ensure our residents receive compassionate care while having their social needs met through meaningful and interactive activities. We believe that meaningful connections with our Residents, their families and our community provide an environment in which we meet our Residents’ needs, comply with Ministry standards and earn the reputation of the “Home with a Heart”.

Our services include individualized care plans and support for residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. 

Residence Features: 

  • 82 beds (private, semi-private, and basic) ***We are in a redevelopment project currently.  Depending on when this information is to be posted on-line, it may be prudent to state – 96 beds – Private & Basic Beds

  • Physiotherapy services provided by Achieva Health 
  • Partnerships for dental, hearing, mobility needs, lab services, mobile X-ray imaging, specialized nursing, foot care, and hair care services 
  • Library outreach service 
  • Pet therapy 
  • Hair salon services 
  • Specialized Foot Care services 
  • Commitment to staff education 
  • Supportive Measures Specialist offering ongoing support 
  • Intergenerational program with local high school and primary school students 
  • Designated Infection Prevention and Control Lead that provides support and education for Staff, Residents and Visitors to the home 

Health and Wellness Programs: 

  • Physiotherapy with an on-site physiotherapist weekly and a physiotherapy assistant five days a week 
  • Supportive Measures Specialist offering ongoing support to team members and residents 
  • Behavioral Supports Ontario (BSO) and Psycho-Geriatric Outreach team from the Royal Ottawa Hospital 
  • Partnership with Home Hospice North Lanark providing skilled volunteers and educational opportunities for staff, Residents and families  
  • Palliative care services 
  • Nutritional care services provided by a registered dietician 

Social and Recreational Activities: 

  • Monthly Residents’ Council meetings 
  • Daily diverse programs offered morning, afternoon and evening to meet our Residents’ social, intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual needs 
  • Diverse and exciting activities planned throughout the year to celebrate the changing seasons, holidays and the lesser-known fun holidays such as “International Ice Cream Float Day”
