Omni Quality Living Celebrates Groundbreaking for Riverview Manor Redevelopment

PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO, March 24, 2025 – Omni Quality Living proudly announced the completion of the groundbreaking ceremony for the redevelopment of Riverview Manor in Peterborough, Ontario. This new development is a part of the Government of Ontario and the Ministry of Long-Term Care’s initiative to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across the province.

The ceremony, held on March 24th, 2025, at 145 Langton Street, featured speakers including Raheem Hirji, President & CEO of Omni Quality Living; Dave Smith, MPP for Peterborough–Kawartha; Tyler Allsopp, MPP of Bay of Quinte and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care; and Councillor Dave Haacke from the City of Peterborough.

“Congratulations to the team on the new construction at Riverview Manor,” remarked Tyler Allsopp, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care. “Our government is fixing long-term care and investing in new homes through Ontario’s Construction Funding Subsidy. When construction is complete, 256 residents will have a safe and modern place to call home.”

“Our government has developed a plan to enhance long-term care, which includes creating modern, safe, and comfortable residences for seniors in Ontario,” stated Dave Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Peterborough-Kawartha. “Once construction on these homes is finished, they will provide a welcoming place for local seniors to live, close to their family and friends.” Added MPP Smith.

“The redeveloped Riverview Manor will provide homes that our seniors need and deserve,” said Mayor Jeff Leal. “I want to thank MPP Smith, the Government of Ontario and the team at Omni Quality Living for their investment in Peterborough.”

Raheem Hirji commented, “Yesterday was a pivotal moment for Omni as we laid the foundation for a modernized Riverview Manor that will comprehensively cater to the needs of our residents. This redevelopment reflects our dedication to providing high-quality care and our commitment to the community’s economic and social well-being.”

Michael Doner, Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer at the Hillcore Group, added, “This redevelopment marks a significant step in our mission to enhance long-term care homes across Ontario. We are thrilled to see our vision for Riverview Manor begin to materialize, thanks to the collective efforts of our partners and the community.”

The new building will feature 256 beds, including a mix of Basic and Private Rooms, and brand-new spacious home areas with enhanced amenity space, designed to meet the latest standards in long-term care and provide a comfortable and safe environment for residents.

The event underscored the collaborative approach towards enhancing senior living in Ontario.
